Summer is the time for ice cream! Although it's important for kids to enjoy the freedom of summer, we need to keep in mind the risks of over indulging on life's sweeter treats.Infographic from the American Heart Association.

These beautiful and impressive breed of horses are truly exciting to see! "Words from Raylan's mom"Say hi to our little superhero, RaylanAt just 3 years old, Raylan is already showing us the true meaning of strength and resilience. Raylan was born at 25 weeks gestation and spent the first 17 months of his life in the hospital. Due to his medical complexities and challenges, he has met the odds stacked against him. Raylan is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and continues to work hard to overcome obstacles. He loves to be included in all activities and thinks his brother hung the moon. We are excited to see what all he can accomplish as we continue on this journey.

As a nurse, you are a guardian of joy for the smallest members of our community. Nurses embrace the beauty of caring and helping young lives, and every day brings new challenges and moments that are filled with the potential to make a lasting impact. Every single interaction makes a young soul's day a bit brighter. At Specialty Care Pediatrics, every child is a precious gem, deserving of the best care, the warmest smiles, and the brightest futures. We are the people who see smiles and laughter as a sign of victory. We'd love to expand the close-knit family with heroes without capes who want to make our littlest fighters' journeys a joyful experience that they won't forget.

Words from Rayleigh's mom,Meet Rayleigh, a 13-year-old social butterfly who loves having her nails painted, creating glittery art, listening to T. Swift nonstop, and watching all things Disney!Rayleigh was born with a rare genetic disorder called CDKL5, which causes intractable epilepsy among other medical complications. Her daily seizures have taken a toll on her development, leaving her wheelchair-bound, G-tube dependent, and nonverbal. Rayleigh amazes us with her strength every single day!Rayleigh makes decisions using her eyes when presented with options. She selects her outfits and can respond to questions with cards indicating Yes or No, More or All Done. She enjoys visiting Target and the library, cuddling up for storytime, and has a passion for animals. Rayleigh has dogs at both houses and loves holding her bearded dragons. This past weekend, Rayleigh visited the zoo and was asked if she wanted to go inside the petting zoo for goats. She looked at the “no” card then looked at our nurse Krystal with her “not interested face”. Later on, she was asked if she wanted to see the flamingos and the big cats, and she looked intensely at the “yes” card. We knew she was pleased with her choice when she saw the flamingo fail about. We at Specialty Care Pediatrics love to service kids just like Rayleigh to get through their challenges and needs.
